In the summer of 2007, I prayed that God would break my heart with the things that break his heart. God burdened my heart with the social justice issue of sex trafficking, which is happening globally and locally. As I prayed about this horrific reality, God gave me the idea to use the gift of photography to raise awareness, prayer and financial support for the victims of sex trafficking.

God has confirmed that this is his heart and our call to action for the oppressed. As I respond to this call, I have taken many steps of faith in obedience to God to start a ministry on behalf of those held captive by sex trafficking. While seeking the Lord and searching Scripture, he gave me a name for the ministry: A Beautiful Rescue. It comes from the truth that God's creation is beautiful, and people are God's creation. The Lord calls us to rescue the oppressed and be a voice for the voiceless. It is truly beautiful to me that God would allow us to use our gifts and passions to help other people; to play such a vital role in impacting people's lives with God's truth and love, which in turn will bring healing and freedom.

This ministry is God's idea. A Beautiful Rescue belongs to the Lord. I am simply being obedient to His calling. We are still in the ground-work stage for this ministry, and the only way it will take flight is through prayer. Prayer paves the way for God to open doors and give wisdom and direction (Colossians 1:9b-14). It is clear to me that I cannot do this alone. I need the family of God to walk this road with me.

I would like to sincerely thank all of you who are praying for the oppressed. Prayer will cause a change because God is powerful in justice and love.

Thank you, also, for your prayers, encouragement and support for A Beautiful Rescue. Your role is crucial to this ministry, whether it is prayer, artistry, serving, planning, researching, advising or connecting. I value each one of you.

In love & joy,

Erin
