Breaking Free - Volunteer Opportunity
Breaking Free is partnering with Source (a non-profit in Minneapolis that has transitional housing for homeless youth) to provide a home for victims of trafficking. Source has a home, called Source Annex, they are currently restoring and could use some extra hands to see the project completed so women can have a home.  The idea is to get a small group together from Duluth to go down to Minneapolis on a Saturday to help with a project on the Source Annex home. If you want to go on a Saturday sometime in the next month, please email info@abeautifulrescue.com.

Pray
Prayer is powerful! A prayer group meets monthly to lift up victims and to prayerfully fight sex trafficking in the city. To get on the email chain with details concerning the meetings, subscribe to our prayer list here.

Ask Questions, Keep Eyes Open
The National Human Trafficking Resource Center has a wealth of information on human trafficking and offers these tips to identify a victim of human trafficking:
Trafficking Victims May...
-Be accompanied by a controlling person or boss; they may not be speaking on their own behalf
-Not have control over money, their own schedule, I.D. and/or travel documents
-Not transport themselves to and from work; they may live and work in the same place
-Have bruises, injuries, may be fearful and/or overly submissive

When talking with someone you think may be a victim you can ask the following questions:
-What type of work do you do?
-Are you being paid?
-Can you leave your job if you want to?
-Can you come and go as you please?
-Have you or your family been threatened?
-What are your working and living conditions like?
-Where do you sleep and eat?
-Do you have to ask permission to eat/sleep/go to the bathroom?
-Are there locks on the doors/windows so you cannot get out?
-Has your identification or documentation been taken from you?
